A tradition of instrumental music making in Kupiškis

An attempt has been made to reveal the peculiarities and changes in the manner of instrumental music making in the area of Kupiškis in the 19th and 20th centuries. The tasks set are to determine basic features of the instrumental music tradition, such as i.e. instrumentarium, ensembles, repertoire, and sounding image, music structure and performing style in the area of Kupiškis, as well as the continuation of this tradition and its changes during different historical periods. It was also interesting to define the main foci of instrumental music making in the area of Kupiškis. The analytical, comparative and retrospective methods have been applied. The conclusions are given at the end of the article.
